I'm a 21 year old web designer, developer and startup enthusiast. I've programmed Ruby (not Rails) for three years and have read both the Pickaxe (versions 1 and 2) and The Well-Grounded Rubyist. Reading David A Black book called The Well Grounded Rubyist and Robert Martin well known as “Uncle Bob” book called Clean Code, A handbook of Agile Software Craftmanship has helped enormously. If you don't already know the Ruby programming language you'd do well to learn some of the ideas and syntax behind it. I am comfortable enough with Ruby to move on. I really like The WellGrounded Rubyist. It is a solid overview of Ruby but I feel that I have spent too much time reexamining the concepts.
